Principal System Engineer for EMEA

URGENTLY REQUIRED!

We are currently looking for a Principal Systems Engineer / Consultant to work in our EMEA Solutions team.

Rate: £489 per day
Start Date: Immediate
Location: UK

The candidate will be responsible for delivery ofReal-Time Systems solutions into the Energy Industries, working closely withother Practices, and Account Managers. The job requires knowledge of theindustry tounderstand their needs, language, technology, culture, and approachto business issues.
  
The successful candidate will have experience in consulting, designing and deploying Real-time Data Integration infrastructure including OSIsoft PI Data Historian, SCADA, OPC and other associated data integration and presentation applications. Position also includes the development of additional capabilities for integrating Real-time data into enterprise applications, Web Service Development, Data Visualization, and Alarming & Event Detection.

Main duties include:-
  • Design and costing of Real-Time solutions in bids and proposals
  • Design and deployment of Real-Time solutions to meet business challenges
  • Requirements gathering and producing clear and concise
Scopes of work
  • Building relationships with clients and providing them with technical advice relating to Real-Time business applications
  • Pre-sales technical consultancy, including prototyping and proof-of-concepts
  • Investigation and evaluation of new technology or products and developing relationships with relevant vendors
  • Mentoring of the more junior team members in technology, tools and practices
Person Specification
Candidates must possess:
  • Proven track record of designing and implementing Real-Time solutions in the Oil & Gas or Utilities industries
  • Industry and/or consulting experience of Real-time related solutions in the Oil & Gas and/or Utilities industries).
  • Understanding of process control concepts especially as applied to Real-time data acquisition and integration
  • into data historians (OSIsoft PI, Processbook, Honeywell Experion, Aspentech IP21, WonderWare, Archestra, InSQL).
  • Knowledge of best-practice
  • Real-time strategies, implementations and designs.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of quality principles
  • Proven planning skills with ability to prioritise and manage own work on a number of simultaneous projects
  • Practical understanding and experience of the software development life cycle
  • Experience of conducting risk assessments
  • Sound commercial awareness
  • Education to degree level

  • Must be a team player, with the ability to lead, motivate and delegate appropriately to staff and team members

  • Must be enthusiastic, self motivated and resourceful
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the
  • United Kingdom
  • and possess a current driving licence. Candidates must be flexible and willing
  • to work at SAIC or customer sites with the potential for occasional
  • international travel.
